Usually the lower part of the signal power is not used for DTMF digit generation as this can become sensitive to various disturbances and losses. Several specifications for DTMF tone parameters are given in Q.24 and listed in Table 7.2.Īs listed in Table 7.2, DTMF digit tones have a higher dynamic range in power levels, but the generation operates at nominal power levels of -12 to -3 dBm. To avoid making multiple detections of the same digit, PSTN or VoIP gateways decide on the digit after completion of a long duration tone.
